A considerably new wood for Erhu with very good results. Learning from western counterparts, who used the E.African Blackwood for oboes, clarinets and bassoons, Erhu makers use it for the same reasons. This dense (1.09kg/dm3) wood holds high frequency pitches very well, resulting in an erhu that is versatile in performing highly virtuositic music.
The erhu vibrates very well, with an added advantage in the high registers. The midtones are definitely strong and defined for ensemble and orchestra performance.
